MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of verifiable, paid, fulltime firefighting experience in the State of Texas within the last five years.
  • TCFP Structural Firefighter Basic Certification
  • TCFP Driver Operator – Pumper Certification
  • TDSHS Paramedic/Licensed Paramedic

FIREFIGHTER I / PARAMEDIC $49,356

FIREFIGHTER I $43,356

  • TCFP Structural Firefighter Basic Certification
  • NREMT or TDSHS EMT-Basic, Advanced
  • Applicants with an NREMT or TDSHS EMT, EMT Advanced or Paramedic certification who are enrolled in a Fire Academy are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants with a TCFP Structural Firefighter-Basic Certification who are enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic certification program are eligible to apply.

ADDITIONAL INCENTIVES

Paramedic Hiring Incentive:                    $1,000.00 After Field Training

Paramedic Ambulance Assignment:       $25.00 Per Shift Assigned

Intermediate Firefighter:                          $564.00 Annually

Advanced Firefighter:                              $948.00 Annually

Master Firefighter:                                   $1,344.00 Annually

PARAMEDIC REQUIREMENT

All new employees who do not currently hold a TDSHS Paramedic/Licensed Paramedic Certification will be required to obtain this certification in accordance with Copperas Cove Fire Department Policy.

MILITARY PREFERENCE

Military credit of five (5) points will be added to the overall hiring process score to those applicants who provide a DD-214 (MEMBER 4 COPY ONLY) showing type of discharge and a minimum of two (2) years of active military service at the time of application. Any discharge other than honorable discharge is not creditable.  Points will only be awarded to applicants after they have passed the Written Exam, EMS Scenario and Physical Ability Course.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

Fire Department employees shall reside no more than forty-five (45) minutes of travel time to the Emergency Operations Center located at 302 Avenue E, Copperas Cove, TX.

AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATIONS

Any of the following may disqualify an applicant from further consideration at any stage of the process:

  1. Having a conviction for, being under indictment for, or currently charged with any felony offense or any offense involving family violence.
  2. Having a conviction for a Class A misdemeanor or on court-ordered community supervision or probation for a Class A misdemeanor within the last five (5) years from the date of application.
  3. Having a conviction for a Class B misdemeanor or on court-ordered community supervision or probation for a Class B misdemeanor within the last two (2) years from the date of application.
  4. Currently being on probation or any court-ordered community supervision for any criminal offense.
  5. Within two (2) years preceding date of application, have illegally used marijuana.
  6. Within five (5) years preceding the date of application, having illegally used any controlled substance or dangerous drug other than marijuana.
  7. During the five (5) year period preceding the date of application, a driver’s license suspension for: driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain financial responsibility.
  8. Having been discharged from military service with a dishonorable discharge; or a general discharge indicating: (A) bad conduct; or (B) any other characterization indicating bad character.
  9. Having been removed from a Copperas Cove Fire Department hiring process in the Polygraph Phase or the Fire Chief Interview within six (6) months from the most recent date of application.
