Children

Summer Reading Program – Online registration for Summer Reading and Hero Camp will begin June 2nd!
This summer the theme at the Copperas Cove Public Library is “Imagine Your Story”. The Summer Reading Program works to keep children ages 1 – 15 engaged in reading activities through stories, crafts and songs, and will run from June 16- August 11, 2020. All programs are provided at no cost, and will be available both in the library’s meeting room and online. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, programs will be broken into small groups to maintain social distancing. Pre-registration will be required. This summer we will not host any large shows for all ages. Hero Camp
is an evening addition to our Summer Reading program this year. It will allow more time for active participation by our older readers. Every Tuesday we will meet at the library from 6-7:30 pm for sword fighting, stories and crafts including armour making, ceramics, and leather work. Hero camp is for kids aged 11-15 and registration will be limited, so please register early. Register here for Hero Camp: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/heroes-camp-tickets-96522257671

Collection
The children’s room in the library has a wide selection of books, CD books and video DVDs. Other features including games, puzzles, coloring sheets, Legos, the dollhouse, puppet theater and stuffed toys are temporarily unavailable due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Programs
We offer Story Time for older kids on Thursdays at 10 AM and Toddler Time on Tuesdays at 10 AM. The annual Summer Reading program runs from mid-June into mid-August with special activities in the library and online each week. Children over 10 may use the library without direct adult supervision.

Online Resources
We offer an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they’ll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. For middle-school aged readers we have the Tumble Book Cloud, an online collection of age-appropriate e-books and read-along chapter books, graphic novels, educational videos, and audio books. All of these books are available with unlimited access, all the time, from any device with an internet connection.
