Children
Collection
Our Children’s Collection offers a wide variety of books, CD books, graphic novels, and DVDs. We offer Board Books, BOB Books and Early Reader fiction and nonfiction selections for our young readers, and favorite chapter and series books, and non-fiction selections for our older kids. For our Teen readers we offer the Teen Zone, with its own collection of youth fiction, graphic novels, CD books, and two X-Box consoles that are available for use in the library.
Story Time
We offer stories, music, songs and crafts through two story times held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10 am, for ages 1-6
Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program for 2023 will be All Together Now : Todos Juntos Ahora.Registration will begin in June 2023 and programs will run from mid-June until the end of July. We will host activities, programs, and shows for kids and teens ages 1 – 15. In addition, we will be hosting a Hero Camp program that will offer sword fighting, storytelling and making things.
Online Resources
We offer links to licensed educational sites through Tex-Share and Tumble Books. Tumble Books and Tumble Book Cloud offer animated narration of existing pictures books that you can read along with or have read to you. All of the materials on these sites are available with unlimited access, all the time, from any device with an internet connection.
After-School Time
We offer staff-supervised activities and study time in the Children’s Room Monday-Thursday from 3:30-5 PM. Activities include STEM activities, robot kits, board games and crafts. Chess boards are available every Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm in the Children’s room for beginner and more advanced players.
Teen Reading
Book discussions, pizza and games are available on the third Thursday of the month from 4:30-5:30 pm for teens ages 11-17.
Homeschool
CCPL offers support for our homeschooling patrons with a Home School Meeting on the last Wednesday of the month during the school year from 1-3 pm. We offer STEM activities, board games, crafts, and fellowship with other homeschooling families.
