“A Police Officer’s Prayer”
Lord, I ask for courage ~
Courage to face and conquer
my own fears,
Courage to take me where others
will not go
I ask for strength ~
Strength of body to protect others,
and strength of spirit to lead others
I ask for dedication ~
Dedication to my job, to do it well,
Dedication to my community, to keep it safe
Give me, Lord, concern for those who trust me,
and compassion for those who need me
And please, Lord, through it all,
be at my side
In Memory of Chief Tim Molnes
“When I’m Gone”
When I come to the end of my journey,
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned,
And remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken,
Remember some good I have done,
Forget that I ever had heartache,
And remember I’ve had loads of fun.
Forget that I’ve stumbled and blundered,
And sometimes fell by the way,
Remember I have fought some hard battles,
And won, ere the close of the day.
Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers,
And remember the place where I lay.
And come in the shade of evening,
When the sun paints the sky in the west,
Stand for a few moments beside me,
And remember only my best.
In Memory of Lt. Daniel “Danny” Austin
“Peaceful Retreat”
Down a narrow hidden path,
Sought out by Wisdom’s eye,
A peaceful place of refuge calls,
To come rest awhile beside.
Listen to the waters,
Falling over mountains steep,
To gently flow for endless days,
Through eternity’s retreat.
And on the far horizon,
Of the never setting sun,
The harvest of the whitened wheat,
Is very nearly done.
As work on earth comes to a close,
Peace will be complete,
Surrounded by the beauty,
Of eternity’s retreat.
In Memory of Lt. Deborah Ann Shelton
“Together Again”
A limb has fallen from the family tree,
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me.”
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song,
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue traditions, no matter how small,
Go on with your lives, don’t just stare at the wall.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,
Until the day comes, and we’re all
Together Again.
“Sheltered In The Arms Of God”
I feel the touch of hands so warm and tender,
they’re leading me in paths that I must cross.
I’ll fall asleep and wake in God’s new Heaven.
Sheltered safe within the arms of God.
